it may be differant on your truck but I really like the smarty on my 05, I can get it smoking like crazy up shift and let it lug

cummins6spd 02-25-2009 01:50 PM

yah your probably right, i know a guy that roams around in the neighboring county and he has a smarty on his cr and it smokes alright but his is only an auto... i lug mine and it dont do anything for the smoke... just when i romp on it taking off it bleches out a nice little cloud

forgot something in that last post: what setting you usually run yours on?

sneed1rr 02-25-2009 02:18 PM

level 9 but my clutch is slipping so the truck is back to stock at the moment

smarty for the common rail and for vp trucks are two different animals...cant even compare them...smarty is the way to go w/ the common rails but def. wont do as much for a vp truck...get the edge w/ the gauges and be set...get a lift pump though right away to make sure that vp stays alive...

i have an 04.5 ctd HO with a 6 spd trans. i was thinkin on doing a smarty on it, but is it a pain to switch between stages while driving around or do most of you guys kinda "set it and forget it"

sneed1rr 02-25-2009 09:16 PM

you cant just switch it while driving it takes about 10-15 minutes to change the settings

i just bought a smarty for mine. i got a bunch of supporting mods done to mine, but smarty is the only programmer on it. mine will black out the highway where u cant see behind u. i drove it 10 miles with out it today and man i wanted it back on there. trying the fuel saver mode now to see how it does.

now on a stock truck. while mine was down over the weekend we put the smarty on jw's 01 dodge. it made a big seat of the feel dyno difference from the power puck he has. on take off he said the power puck felt stronger, but every other aspect the smarty made it feel stronger, made it faster and made it smoke. it smoked on every shift in his 6 speed. lug 6 gear and it will leave a trail. hope this is beneficial to ya.

I love the smarty. I run it day in and day out. The turbo seems to spool faster. With the cold weather, the high idle is awesome. I only turn the edge on to play. I noticed a big difference when the edge is on, after I put the RV275 injectors in. With the smarty, I adjusted my tire height so my speedometer is just about spot on. Plus the smarty gives me any codes, I need to see and allows me to clear them easily.

Just my $.02 :U:

On my 06 with just the smarty, xdi true flow intake and mbrp stacks. On level 9 i put down 508hp 1080ft tq.
