Default Exhaust Brake

Hello all,

I am a new member. I live in NM. I own a 1998.5 24v Cummins in a dodge wrapper. I was wondering if anyone has an in-line exhaust brake? A co-worker and I would like to build one. We have the tools and the experience, but is it worth our time? Thank you,

DieselBus.

Thats good info Bill but BD does not currently offer a remote mount exhaust brake for a second gen CTD.

First of all, welcome

Ultimately its up to you to determine if its worth your time. Pac Brake makes some VERY nice brakes and I would look at them for an option. I have a Jacobs but sure wish it was the inline version. I have not heard many good things about the US Gear brake.

Again, welcome.

Question: why do you want an in-line brake? Historically, on small and medium duty applications like our trucks they tend not to work very well after a short period. Be it damage, carbon or mechanical issues.

Personally I'd take a look at BD or PAC and go nuts. Either way get the bigger compressor for yor tires and your future air bags...

No you, Evil. Sorry. Any way, the in line version is not ideal for the reasons I mentioned but under specific requirements you can make them work you just need to check, recheck and protect them is all. Lots of work for anywhere that experiences "weather".

Thanks for the interest.

It will be mounted under the truck in the mud and road spray. Nasty work enviroment. I am interested if anyone has tried to build their own version.
