In tank pump 2002 cummins
Hello,
My 2002 Cummins has the in tank pump retro fit done but the person that did it left the old pump on the block there but not powered. I have thought about getting the aftermarket upgraded pump that goes in place of the stock unit on the block. I thought it would be OK even if I leave the pump in the tank. After all, the stock pump had to pull the fuel but now it would be supplied to it. I also think the old block mounted pump might be restricting some fuel. So far I dont feel that it is but I dont have a gauge to be sure. Anyway, I didnt think getting the upgraded block mounted pump and leaving the one in the tank would hurt anything as I dont plan on any HUGE HP gain upgrades.
Comments welcome, and yes, I am kind of new to the diesel world.

I do have two pumps, the one someone left on the block and one in the tank.
I figured it need to be removed or replaced with an aftermarket upgrade pump. I was changing the starter when I noticed the fuel pump on the block was unplugged and there was another wire spliced into it going back to the tank. Now I guess I have to find a plate for it so I can remove the old block pump as they just left it there.
Could I just put an upgrade pump on the block and run both????
Thank for the info.
