there is a huge thread on 6-spd to eaton/fuller conversions.

are you wanting to go manual?

why not just get a built auto from DTT, suncoast, revmax, ats, etc... and be done with it?

cost about 5 grand or better, but it would be well worth it...

you can always build yours...

upgrade the torque converter and valve body. billet input and output shafts, and a billet flex plate.

I had this trans done twice now and don't do anything in 4 wheel and haven't pulled a single trailer... I am in love with the truck but very very disappointed in the driveline beyond the cummins... So its what either the junk I have 5gs plus with my fingers crossed on an aftermarket or manual???? Thanks for the help

yeah the auto's aren't cheap to build up.

that's one of the main reasons I bought a 6-spd truck.

that and I can't stand automatics anyway...I get bored driving them and feel awkward not having a clutch and shifter to use while driving

mine is in the shop now getting T C valve body shift kit and all the good stuff, this is a local shop that I have heard nothing but good things about so I guess we will see what happens. I tow a 24' goose neck alot and the stock tranny was holding as long as I babied it and watched my gauges. I know I was on borrowed time running and edge comp on 2nd setting but she held up till I was ready to have it done.

just make sure you don't do boosted launches or shift under lockup...

otherwise you will want billet shafts both input and output as well as a billet flex plate.

and even then it's still not a good idea to shift under lockup. that is the #1 cause of broken billet shafts in automatics...people leaving the converter locked up and letting the trans shift under power...causes the trans to slam the gears which you might as well be taking a huge impact gun to the shafts doing that as that hard snap of torque is the right recipe for a broken shaft.

power is easy to hold if engaged gradually, but engaged in a instant snap causes excessive stress.

just food for thought so you can prevent a broken shaft
