im not sure i just used a brush. did you also run coolant to your electronics? the pin is for lining things up. the one i have had a pin. the other turbo i have did not have a pin. its on the outside of the exhaust housing. you cant see it till you pull the exhaust housing off the center section. does your turbo spin freely? and have you tested your electronics?

Shouldn't need anything that strong. Varsol will do the trick just fine.
