IMO, the big sticks do not cause bucking. I think it's a combination of things mostly relating to too low of an rpm.

Any use of the Smarty in my truck with big sticks results in bucking, surging and delayed (higher mph) lockup. I do not get that with any other box or combo of boxes I have tried.

Would this be a fix for my tranny not shifting past 3rd and will the converter stay locked in O/D if the switch is turned off?

I dont think it would be a fix if it's not shifting into OD. the truck will still act normall when the switch is off as far as lockup occuring in different gears. With the switch on a 47RE should lock up right after the 1-2 shift and stay locked until the switch is surned off.

I picked up connectors and switches last night including a plunger for brake pedal,in theory when brakes are applied and signal interrupted truck should downshift normally??? I also have a light to alert me when switch is on that I will run from hot wire with key on that will turn off when ground(switch off) is interrupted.???

Sounds good. If you can take some pics and do a little write up, thats exactly what I've been wanting to do.
