Default Question about programmers

I am in the market for a programmer.

First off, i have a 2001 5.9, 6 speed with a few mods:
BHAF
Fuel Pressure gauge, EGT gauge, and Boost gauge

ive heard good things about the Edge EZ comp box, and also heard good things about the smarty

im wanting to have a good towing tune, a good performance tune, and a good fuel mileage tune, AND i dont want to hurt anything or have a chance to hurt anything AT ALL

with the gauges would i notice before something could possibly tear up?

and with a performance tune like under 100HP, would it have any negative impact on the tranny at all?

thank you!

I prefer the add on boxes like Edge Juice or Quadzilla Adrenaline for the convienence of being able to change tunes on the fly. With the Smarty, you have to plug it into the obdII port and then it takes a couple mins to change the settings in the ecm. Edge or Quad you'll have the box to mount, wiring to do, and the monitor to mount on the dash. Smarty has nothing to mount or wire. All 3 of them are good and will give similar results. They won't do any damage to your trans except maybe wear the clutch a little faster from the increased torque.

with the standard tranny you should be good with a programmer as long as you dont run it on like level 9 or extreme all the tiime and haul ***** everywhere you go i have the smarty and with the eco tune and just a k&n and my lift pump i was getting 20+ mpg with 35s

i hope i wont. but im still not the best at driving the standard. i dont miss gears or stall it, but i probably dont work the clutch perfectly yet. it grinds every now and then when going slow.

i might get the edge juice. the guy before me had a smarty though, will it matter if i get a different one? he took the programmer off and returned it to stock before i bought it

If he returned it to stock you wont have any probs with the edge.

since you have gauges get an edge comp it's less than a juice because it's just a programmer
