Default Injectors and intake.

After diagnosing my poor running issue to find it was injectors, it's time to invest in a good set. I' m looking for a little bit more power, nothing super crazy. Please share any information and experience regarding the sdx 2 5x.012 injectors (90 hp) along with an intake elbow, such as the banks monster ram? Or should I save money on the intake and put it towards something else? Thanks.

i run 5x.012 sdx sticks. like them very much. great for a DD truck make plenty of power. very capable of over 500 ponies. can be very clean depending on other fueling mods. no gain or loss in MPG. dont get an intake. way more bling than power adder.

Thanks for the feedback. I feel im pretty set on the sdx injectors, especially their price. I also have a ddp adjustable fuel plate but i think i want to pull it and put a fixed plate in, but I don't know what # to run. The truck is a weekend driver and although its no race car on the 40's, I still wanna be able to smoke some civics on the freeway .

What else can I do air wise to help add power with the bigger injectors?

i currently run a #6 plate in stock location, have tried a plethera of others and the #6 seems to be a very happy medium between power and drivability. good intake/filter remove the silencer ring from the turbo and buy a $15 boost elbow for the wastegate. run the stock charger right around 35psi if you want it to live. you should be able togain approx 15psi from the boost elbow. thats about all you can do air wise with a stocker, they only move so much.

hey also what ring and pinion are your running? stock 3.54's would be KILLING your performance! you need at least 4.10s if not 4.56 to get your power to the ground. 4.56's will make your speedo almost right again ect ect.

Very helpful info, ill prob be doing something along those lines. I didnt realize a boost elbow can effect air movement that much. Just wanted to get a general idea to start looking.

I wanna say the trucks got 4.10s in it. I never scanned the truck numbers but considering its a 5 speed I would wanna say its got numerically higher gear ratios. But that's just theory

4.10's would be usable with your size tire but not what i would run. lots of 2500 pick-ups came with 3.54 gears. it might be worth your time to look into it.

Its probably going to be something down the road. I've had trucks in the past with anything from 44's to 33's and I still can't find a happy median with gear ratios.

Also, What is your opinion on a 100 fuel plate?
What about the #6 plate made you happy?

i ran 44's on the 78 ford on my frofile with a pretty peppy big block. 4.88 gears and my speedo was off 4 mph. i was happy with that. so 40's and 4.56' will be close. #6 is just a good in the middle plate. the 0 made noticably more power a 100 is the next step down fron that. i just like the 6 for what i use my truck for. if you have your stock plate layin around grind a 100 in it and give it a go. see what you think. it just gives me with my set-up to much fuel up top.

What would be the consequences of just going all out such as the 5x 16 injectors and like a 3 fuel plate with 4gsk with 60 lb valve springs? Just possibly higher egt s and stock clutch slipping? Or would I need studs? I mean If I'm Guna spend the money why not go all out?

5x16's are over kill. how do you plan on burning this fuel or suppling the fuel needed to inject it properly? dont go nuts on one thing. i like to build engines around their biggest power adder, whatever that may be. heads a turbo a super, a camshaft ect. build a system that works well together. everything will last longer fuel milage will be optimal and so on. your truck will run with a stock charger and 5x22's but not very freakin well! smoke is not power. you want to be able to burn all the fuel you can inject. its totally your truck but i cant recommend 5x16 or really 5x14's on a stock charger with monster tires and stock gearing with no supporting mods.
