Default building a new motor

i am building a new motor for my 93, i am looking to getting a hamilton 188/220 cam for it, but not to sure if i should get the hamilton push rods and valve springs? i already have 60lbs valve springs.. also i am debating between getting my head O-ring or fire ring the block... thanks for any advice..

I would upgrade to the 110 valvesprings from hamilton and the push rods are a nice addition. I havent seen a stock push rod bend with the heavier hamilton springs even at higher rpms but, id say they do deflect some and its good insurance. Id also get the cam gear retainer when you purchase the cam. Youll be glad you have it if you continue to upgrade your truck. I personally like fire rings, we use them on most all high hp builds here. You can either groove the block or the head or both. A single groove in the head seems to work fine. Dont forget to use 24v tappets with the hamilton cam.

IMO o ring the head for a street truck, also for a 12v hamiltons springs are 175# on the seat.

24v tappets are wider than the 12v's, better contact with the cam lobes is the reason weight is damn near the same.

I just told you the seat pressure of hamiltons springs

Should be fine w/o fire ring. What kind of boost/timing you planning on running? Resurfaced head, o ring, and head studs will hold 500.

o rings will hold more than most give them credit for. In my 2.6 puller the head is o ringed, stock HG, and arp 12mm studs have had 0 issues with that combo for 3 years now. Motor see's 5k off the line 4200-4400 rpm down track round 32* timing.

O rings, fire rings are better suited to competition. Fire rings often have repeat failures from my experience. O-rings have held 80+ psi for me and many others for years without issue, I even sprayed mine past 80psi.

94 12valve , why do people say you have to get a special head gasket if you O-ring your head?
