Default Engine rebuild

Im looking at buying this kit. 5.9L Cummins B Series Engine Rebuild Overhaul Kit

I have a question about the pistons in the kit. What is the reasoning for goin to the large bowl piston? What should i do? This is for the truck in my sig. Thanks for any insight or pointers!!

Im wondering about the piston because im worried about the spray angle of my injectors vs. the piston bowl. Just want to make sure im not doin this again for a long time

marine bowl pistons are for the 155* injector pattern also some pre intercooler ingines. most everything else including your engine came factory with 145* injector spray pattern and a smaller bowl piston.

Larger bowl slightly reduces the compression ratio, not enough to affect anything from what I hear. Some recommend it just because of the "I can cram more air in there" theory

Well after its rebuilt i dont plan on going for anymore performance than what has already been done to it. I think i'll go with the stock pistons then after its broke in, re-tune it to the way it is now. The reason im rebuilding it is because it washed the cylinders down and took out the cross hatching. I think i want to send the pump out to get looked over but im not sure what i should do with the injectors. Send them with the pump or send them back to SDX to have them checked out?
