Harmonic balancer position?
I recently took off the harmonic balance to be able to remove the timing cover to replace its gasket. Now, when I put it bacon on the rpm guage isnt working and the altenator doesnt seem to be charging.. Is there a certain way I am suppose to put the balancer back on, Maybe in accordance with the crankshaft sensor? Any help is appreciated. I looked around and couldnt find a similiar thread, if there is one some guidance to it would be great. This is on my 1998 12 valve.
Thanks so much. I think this is what I did wrong, had no idea there was a certain amount of space that needed to be between the two, I think mines too high. I will write back tomarrow and let you know if this was it. Greatly appreciated!!
take a piece of paper and fold it in half 3 times tightly set between the balncer and set the cranksensor on it if you dont have feeler gauges done that several times when in a pinch always works great we at the dealership use a green dot but they list for like $8 each
