afc help
hey guys new to this forum... i have been over on another for 6 years and I am just flat tired of posting and posting questions just to not be answered. hopefully someone here can help. this is the last post made over on the other forum...
tinkered with the afc again tonight. Pretty much no change moving the star wheel full forward. SOOOO. if my afc foot is not going full forward like the picture in the how to mod your afc thread does that mean i still have 1/4" of rack travel? the afc foot barrel in the picture shows to be dang near touching the front of the afc housing and on mine full forward is a tad more than 1/4" away from the housing. so what gives?
I am attempting to get just a little more fuel and feel my rack travel is not to its fullest with my barrel not going all the way out to the housing... the flat washer on the diaphram is bottoming out and the foot barrel is not out like it should be. have any of yall cut the foot itself where the gov rides?

Move the afc housing foward for starters, verify boost signal to afc is good as well.
Don't modify the afc unless its a requirement of your build. Plenty of power can be made with it in factory working order.

do you guys think the vgt turbo is just good enough to handle the fuel my set up can provide? I feel it is not getting the fuel it needs to run at its full potential. might need some injectors,,,,
really want to know if the foot going all the way forward is full rack travel. if it is i think i need to cut the foot about a 1/4" on the side where the gov rides. but i would love to talk to someone who has messed with the afc alot.
As I said before, I wouldn't mess with the afc foot. If under regulated shop air the arm travels as expected and in line with full fuel / full charger spool then the afc won't be causing you issue. You will need additional fuel. If your going to modify it, at least just gut it so you can put it back together.
You could also use shop air, use a measuring device to determine the distance of travel, then you will know if its interfering with the the gov arm/fuel plate. Sounds like you are just looking for a reason to screw with your afc, or being cheap and not address needs for additional fueling. Might also check fuel pressure for lack of fuel issues.

....i have and continue to spend a ton of money on my cummins swap. the reason for my question again is the 1/4" space between the foot barrel and the afc housing WITH shop air or with the spring out and pushing it forward manually. when looking at the pictures of peoples modded afc you can clearly see the foot barrel touching the afc housing. with mine modded and the thin flat washer put inside the diaphram my foot barrel is a little more than 1/4" away from the housing. I do however like your comment about gutting the afc and trying it out before i wittle on my foot anymore. this question was simply to ask about the afc foot going full forward to allow the gov to give full fuel..... before i start throwing more money at it. As in my sig I have gauges and there is no fuel problem
Really? Because it shows up on my puter
