If you want to run your stock tranny as long as you can, then the best thing to do is buy some gauges, including a trans temp gauge. As far as the best bang for your buck performance wise, that won't immediately kill the stock tranny, is buy a set of the pacbrake 4k gov springs. I installed them into my truck, and it really woke it up. The difference between the 3k and 4ks is about 20 bucks, and the 4ks will let you fuel well beyond what you need, where as the 3ks will only truly fuel to around 2600 RPM. Your stock gov springs probably fuel to around 2000-2200, so not that much of a difference. I'd definitely save up for at least a single disc TC, and VB, I just had them installed into my truck, and between those, getting my timing bumped to 16 degrees, and the 4ks, its a night and day difference between what the truck was.

Cranking the starwheel is not that helpful. It determines the rack travel at a certain boost pressure. Its to help with turbo spool and smoke. Cranking it is just alot of peoples way of getting smoke from a stop. I run without a plate and without and afc. Its all to the driver.
Taking a stock truck and adding injectors and delievery valves on a truck is some of the worst info actually.
Do some gov. springs, you wont regret it. The 3k's make things better but 4k's are the way to fly. Do some fuel plate work what ever your choice of the umpteen thousand options there are. Timing also helps as well. Then maybe think about stepping up to some injectors. Delievery valves are funny creatures. Depending on the pump, injectors, and the truck itself will depend on what you want. A key thing to look at there is that delievery valves tend to add heat, quickly.
Most importantly though, that stock auto is killing you and you will most likely in turn kill it. It will fail at some point or another. This is just some starter help.

Thanks for the help everyone! I've definately learned alot about these 12vs in a hurry. I have plans to do the tranny ASAP, but money is tight right now cuz my wife and i just had our first child (a boy!) and i don't want to take to much money away from him. I'm looking into the 4k govenor springs. I am running guages including a tranny temp guage. Whats the danger zone tranny temp wise? I'm also looking at fuel plates. I'm going to buy an aftermarket instead of modifying mine because i'd like to keep the stock one incase i ever want to put it back in . So my question is whats better? from my reasearch anything from #0 to #10 are'nt the way to go with a stock auto. But #11 and up to #100 seem to be ok. If you guys were in my shoes which one would you go with? and again thanks for all the help!
