2nd gen cummins upgrades

Hey guys, I'm currently rebuilding a 1994 Dodge cummins for a daily driver. I'm looking for small realatively cheap upgrades to boost HP, but not kill the driveability. Any sugestions??

turn the starwheel all the way to the passanger side.. remove the fuel plate.. cold air intake.. exhaust... and it just depends and ho far you want to go with the hp

fuel plate, boost elbow, better air filter, chop your giant muffler and cat off, turn the star wheel. i personally would grind or buy an aftermarket fuel plate if its a daily driver truck. (personally) other than that things start costing quite a bit more money. also taking the silencer ring out of the stock turbo makes you feel alot cooler.

Thanks guys for the tips, i'm not too familiar with the 12v's. Most of my knowledge is with common rails. I'm not really sure what the starwheel is or does. I know where its located thats about it. I have a #100 fuel plate on the way. K&N cold air intake, MBRP 4" exhaust, Silencer ring MIA!! KDP kit difused. I would also like to know more about this govenor spring kit that i hear so much about, I can't really find too much about a P7100 3200 rpm spring kit. Thanks again guys!
:rocking:

the gov springs allow you to fuel past 2200-2400 RPMS stock springs defuel at that ish rpm

Thanks for the quick reply. Where do i find such a kit? and is it something that a guy with moderate mechanical skills can install?

turbo2332 06-27-2011 07:39 PM

i bought mine from puredieselpower.com its not super hard to do. somewhere on here there are some pictures of the procedure.

The truck also has a stock-ish auto tranny, at what point should i worry about grenading that tranny? Its on the list of things to do....but not yet! Also when should head studs be installed?

turbo2332 06-27-2011 07:43 PM

my tranny is all stock, so if you pray for mine i will pray for yours. LOL be nice to it and it will last for awhile but not ever by any stretch of the imagination. studs can be installed whenever more of an insurance thing. but you dont really need them unless you have your timing way advanced or lots of boost.

Delivery Valves and Injectors
Might as well start with the tranny so you have room to grow, or you will face the problem down the road
