Default H1C/H1E over HT60 Twins setup... Advice.

Ok guys, title says it all. I'm taking my VGT setup off the truck. I'm going to put my stocker WH1C (16cm wastegated housing) back on, but put a compressor and housing off an H1E on it. I've purchased an HT60 to put under it.

Now, I've got a 175 P pump with 7x011 injectors, no plate, and AFC tuning. Stock 131 delivery valves.

Couple questions:

1. Do I need to do any mods to the exhaust housing on the H1C for good flow to the bottom charger? Open up wastegate? Drill center divider?

2. Do I REALLY need an external gate on the H1C?

3. The HT60 has a 74mm compressor, 83mm turbine, and 27cm housing. Do I need an external gate for that?

4. Drain for the Primary charger, what are guys doing here? I could weld a fitting on the oil pan, but don't really feel like dropping the pan to weld in a fitting.....

5. Oil supply line? Just T it and run hydraulic line?

Thanks guys. I'll keep yah all posted as this progresses......

If your trying to do it on the cheap use the wh1c and ht60, but I would try to find a 351 off a common rail and put a 1.1 s475 under it would be less than 1,000 for both charger and it would perform great with fast spool. External gates will always work better than a internal but with a 16cm housing you should be fine for a 450 to 550 hp truck

Well, the H1E I was watching went for too much money. So, it's going to be the WH1C over the HT60. I'm gonna put a spacer plate in to space the turbo away from the manifold so the comp cover doesn't hit. Should I use a divided plate, or an open one? Does the divided exhaust housing really spool that much faster than the undivided housing?

Then I'm not going to put a gate on the HT... And the plan as of now is to return oil to a fitting in the pan.

how did the vgt run on your truck? i think there might be extra oil drain plugs on the side of the block, look where your orginal drain for the turbo is and see if there any matching places on that side of the block, some blocks came with two oil drains

Unfortunately, my motor is too old to have the second oil drain port.... So I'm gonna have to pierce the oil pan and do that.

My VGT ran good. As a daily driver, it's great. Spools fairly quick, quicker than stock for sure, and it's a 60mm charger, so flows good air... Seems to be effective out to 42 psi, and at only 48 psi back pressure. But, it's not enough airflow for towing the heavy loads I often tow... So I'm going twins. Ideally, I'd have put the HT60 under the VGT, but I need to sell the VGT to recoup some of the money being spent on the Twins setup.

I'd recommend the VGT setup to somebody who likes to tinker, is running moderate fueling, and tows medium loads (20k combined or less).... At heavy loads, the lag becomes more pronounced.... With an automatic, this would not be such a problem though as you wouldn't loose boost at every shift.

Another question, I gotta make a spacer flange to move the H1c away from the exhaust manifold a little since the compressor housing hits with the manifold flipped... Does the divided (twin scroll) exhaust housing really help the turbo spool that much, or could I just put in an undivided spacer? Divided spacer would be more work, but if it's really beneficial, I'll do it.
