Default 96 cummins fuel. plate removal

From what I have seen, read.... The top bolt on left of the afc is the tamper proof bolt. Mine has a Allen head bolt, but it's the top right bolt , the slotted, flathead screw,I can't get out ! Any ideas. ??

Default kinda confused...

So i couldnt get the afc housing off after several tries, and a couple buddies help. So i took it to a shop and had them do the install of a #100 Here's what i see... im down here in Cali, 700 mile trip. My boost on guage went from about 28lbs to 32lbs... my fuel economy went from 27mpg to 22.5 mpg... seems a bit doggish... til it hits 3rd... then it launches !! Shop said they used the templete plate to place the new fuel plate. Not happy with its power curve... definately not happy with the fuel economy. .... any suggestions. .. 96 cummins, new built auto trans. With shift kit and heavy duty torque convertor? ????

Ditch the fuel plate and get afc live and learn how to tune it. Plates are a waste of time and money as well as far out dated when there's better options.

Disagree with the plates are outdated part and AFC live while nice is something that can be done for 1/3 of the price yourself.

Is that 27 MPG hand calculated? if so that's very impressive, even 22.5 is still impressive for a 2500 truck hand calculated. Did the shop or your self install the AFC back where it was from the factory? When your say doggish is the truck smoking a good amount?
