Fuel Plate
I have a 96 cummins. that i just bought. the kid put a #100 plate in the truck. and has it up maybe 3/4. i am wondering if the stock clutch is in danger of having that plate in the truck. i do tow alot and i was also wondering if i have to buy anything else for the truck to run good with a tight budget. thanks

Welcome to the forum
Hmmm not sure on the stock clutch. I would think 3/4 forward it would be alright, but make sure to get the opinions of some other guys first. If it does not already have gauges, I would invest in at least a pyro and a boost gauge, especially if you are towing often.
What other mods does the truck have on it right now? I would recommend at least a more free flowing exhaust and intake.

ok thanks for the info. and ya the clutch that is in the truck is brand new stock with 1000 miles on it. and i have boost pryo and oil and fuel gauges. the truck does have an AFE stage 1 intake on it and im not sure bout downpipe but its straight piped. and the only reason im asking about the fuel plate. is the kid i bought it off of said bout having the plate slid a lil bit bc if you got on the truck it would burn the clutch up witch is understanding but i was just wondering if its only slid a lil bit and towing would it throw the clutch out. and it pegs the 35 psi boost gauge. and would you suggest on getting 3k springs or something?

where in pa are ya from? if ur gonna put gov springs in, go with the 4k. but the stock clutch isnt gonna like it very much. i have a south bend clutch in my truck n its awesome, but they are pretty pricy. (absolutely worth it, but tough on a tight budget). i hear valairs prices are a little easier on the wallet.

The 4k kit and valve springs arent too tricky if you are fairly mechanically inclined. I did them in mine when the engine was out that made it tons easier, but its do-able. I agree that the first step in your situation is gauges. and the clutch will probably not like it-mine slipped with stock turbo and fuel plate removed before i did the 4k kit
