Default question for the 1/4 mile guys

how much hp does it take to get a 12v in to the low 12's high 11's? buddy of mine has a kenne bell blown 08 mustang.. he runs 12.3's.. he said my truck will NEVER beat his mustang.. now i have all winter to beat his shitty mustang.

a lot got a buddy here with an 04 common rail that is pushing around 1000 hp and 1300lb and he runs the quarter in 12.51 at 109mph and he has 20k worth of aftermarket stuff done to it too

ur buddy either does not have 1000hp.... has 8 fat chicks and a pallet of road salt in his truck... or he idles down the track.. i have a buddy in the low 13's with just over 500hp in his 12v... your buddy should well into the 11's with 1000 whp.

calculator says 650ish to the wheels will do it ... course thats assumeing you have a good launch

i no! thats no fast at all for a kenne bell stang... but he cant shift for crap!

you should be able to run as fast as 12 flat with 600 rwhp. get the trans done right and do a boosted 10-15psi launch in 4wd and you will see GREAT improvement.

i know he's pushing a grand of hp i've been with him when he's done a 4wd boosted launch and held it to the floor and that truck is scary fast we hit 100 before i could get oh my god out of my mouth

I had a 5.0 that ran a 12.5 with heads/cam/intake/exhaust/x-pipe/gears.


1,000hp and only 1300lbs of tq dont add up to me. With 1k hp, I would think he should have at least 2k+ or tq. I can believe a common rail having 1300lbs of tq.. it's not that hard. but the 1,000hp doesn't add up to me.

ha ha 347 stroker? or just 302
