Default Head bolts / studs

At what Hp range is it reccomended to buy studs? Can I get away with holding 500hp down with just headbolts?

imo, no. u may beable to sqeak it out of one, but u are at a serious risk of poping it. for the price of a set of studs, i would go ahead and add them before poping the HG

It depends on timing and boost. For typical builds;
The stock head bolts are good to around 400hp, but some get lucky with more.
The 12.9 12mm bolts are good for around 500hp, but some hit 600hp without problems.
After you get much over 500hp, studs are the best way to go. If you have the head off for any reason, studs again.
Just remember, studs are insurance, but not a guarantee. Seems like most of the blown HGs I read about are on trucks that had studs.
