Default pump timing

is there an easy way to set the timing. could i just bring the engine to tdc and the pump in time pull the pump gear then rotate engine ahead and put the gear back on

im not sure ive never set the timing but i think that there is a timing pin on the pump when its tdc, but not 100% hopefully someone else chimes in
