Double vs. triple
Well looks like I'm going to build my 2.6 truck before I wanted to. Question is have any of you guys run a triple disk clutch on the street? whatever I go with it'll be a sintered iron rigid disk with and enlayed flywheel, 3800lb double or 3600 triple.
I don't know much about the clutches in these trucks but sintered iron is not normally a good street material. It is made to bite and bite hard. It is not made to last and is very hard on the pressure plate and flywheel metal. With the extra disks, it may make it better, but not positive on that one.
Something like brass or maybe ceramic in a triple may still hold fine but be better for street and length of serivce.

Well this is going to be a play thing that sees street time and a few trailers. I am not concerned with lasting a long time as I want it to hook hard in a taller gear than I could use with a double.
sounds just like my truck ... I went with a south bend DD 3850 plate load 12 button. Very good street and sled manners.
There you go right from the man himself
