Average cost to rebuild cummins?

This is true but it had issues before that.
Good observation.
But my wife drives my 1-ton cummins.. so what does that mean?

Ya I like it a lot. Excellent fit and finish, very quiet and smooth, awesome quality etc. I love it.
But I cant wait to get another 12v...

$5500 for a rebuild and $60 of oil would have prevented it.
Some people never get a handle on the "pay me now,or,pay me later" theory.
So lets see if we can sum this up Cliff Note's style....
-He made a "mistake" and ran his beloved Cummins low on oil and destroyed a motor.
-Blamed it on the underhanded sales of the previous owner since he never showed him the issues with the truck.Things that he should have seen when it was bought had he looked a bit or done some legwork up front.
-Almost had heart failure when he was quoted what it would cost to rebuild his motor as he didn't want to spend that kind of cash.
-Then went out and instead of spending 6k on a rebuild he spent 40k on a new H3.
Makes alot of sense to me and I agree with HAYMAFIA,
Stick with the gasser,you will be better off.

Listen first I rebuilt my dodge for $1330, grant it I had the hone and the torque wrench and other various tools required but that was the cost of the rebuild kit from a company called PAI based out of Atlanta. I was also able to do it in frame, the only tricky part was lifting the motor so that the oil pan would clear the frame. As for the torque specs get a haynes manual or something along those lines. If you were ever interested in building a motor, a diesel motor is the one to do it with. Also I only had blown rings so the only thing i had to do with my had was replace the valve seals.

mine had a cracked block, so i got another for $350 ( non-53) i got a machenshop that has checked it honed it, vatted it,miked it, everthing, and told me it was good. And that machenshop has check out 3 others for me and told me that they werent good, but this one is. and my mechanic is doing all the work for the rebuild and everyhting eles for $1350, (I know him real well) and the rest is in parts. totlated up to $3000
im looking to have my engine rebuilt and im from stephenville i saw that you had yours done.... if you dont mind me asking who did it
