Thanks. Yeah, I said I modded the foot, but I really meant that I shaved the barrell down to get full travel. I took .090" off of it.

With the expectation of higher fuel prices I may be setting the timing sooner than expected, so I may go ahead and try to do the plug then.

That would be the time to do it, after you slide the pump back the old plug screws out and the new one screws in ... its that easy

Is it possible to do without taking fuel lines and throttle linkage off, or do they need to come off to give you the room?

I would take the fuel lines off so you don't bend them. the throttle linkage can stay on. you only need to slide the pump back about 1".

You will have to loosen the 4 mounting bolts on the timing cover, take the 2 10mm long bolts on the side out and jiggle the pump back until you can get the pulg out. Its a very good idea to break the stock pulg free with everything still bolted up and the same applys when you tightent he new pulg back up.

With the stock pulg out DO NOT move the throttle on the pump, there is a rack guide behind the plug and it could pop out. Make sure when installing the new plug that it is flush with the front face of the pump after tightening it down just like the stock plug is now.

when i bolcked my waste and i was running a number 8 slid forward but not all the way, and intake and exhaust i could 35psi on a stock turbo, then i put a #5 ff in and 3ks and i could hit 43 or 45psi on the stock turbo, a friend of mine ran just the #5 on his 98 and he was able to hit 35psi no problem with the waste gate bolck. i dont see how not running a plate you couldnt hit 40psi, maybe you have a intercooler leak or something??? i found a hole in my intercooler that i was losing 6psi of boost out of and didnt notice it until i saw the bottom of my cooler covered in oil. oh and my truck is a 95 with the 160hp pump

Depends on the pump too. A 215pump would punch that turbo out much quicker than a 160 or 180 pump.

Not true. Any of these pumps has more than enough capabality to waste a stock charger.

ya any one of the dif pumps are more than capable of over boosting the 35, although it may be easy to do with a 215 i dont think it makes that much of a difference

Hell, a fuel plate and afc tuning alone was enough to push 40-50psi on my charger due to all the fuel I can flow.
