Anybody ever rebuilt their starter?
I bought the brush rebuild kit and the plunger rebuild kit for my starter just a bit ago. How hard is it to do this task? My truck is really pissing me off and not starting so I took the plunge and bought the rebuild supplies.
how hard is it to solder in the new brushes?
Thanks all

Just do it man - we already told you its easy. Hardest part is breaking the top bolt free. Make sure you have 10mm 12 point socket and/or wrench.
Youll need a higher output soldering iron (or small torch) to solder in the new brushes

Oh sh*t.. 180$ for a new starter at o'reillys?? I'd almost pay that much to not have to tear into my starter! The cheapest I've seen for new (maybe it was even remanufactured) was like 400-something dollars.
