Well we got the beast running. Set the timing at 24*. She's got a lot of power, but smokes too much on the street. Owner can't have that much smoke in the city where he lives. What do you guys think we can do about his smoke problem? We extrude honed the injector tips to 100% over stock and set cracking pressure to 3900psi. I would rather not sacrifice power to clean up the smoke. Thanks.

my 97 puller is set at 26 degs. starts ok in warmer pulling weather. i got a s400 too.

what turbo are you running?

It smokes on the street because you are trying to do 2 different things. Drop the timing to 19 or 20 and it should cut the smoke a bit and spool better, but pulling it will suffer. With a p pump motor of this amount, you really have to pick one or the other. Cant have both.

Have you played with the AFC? Maybe softening the AFC will help. It may be laggy, but less smoke. Can he deal with that?

Another option he may consider is a bad a$$ 47RH and a loose converter. . . . .

We are running a s400 2.6 turbo. The anaroid has been removed completely. The 4r100 was removed and swapped with a ZF6. The customer is not used to driving a high hp 12 valve with a stick. I taught him to shift at a higher rpm and go easy on the pedal. It is possible to drive it and not smoke. He's doing better and is happy again. Can't wait til pulling season starts. Thanks guys.
