Default 4BT

ok someone suggested a 4BT build when I was asking which engine I should build. Do all the 2nd gen 12Vs performance goodies apply about the same to the 4BT or what would be different?

I am now just researching what engine would be one of the best options to put in my Bronco since the future plans are still very far in the future.

Thanks in advance.

Not to direct you from this great site, but you may want to check out Cummins 4BT & Diesel Conversions Forums - Powered by vBulletin. These guys live, eat and breathe 4-BT engines/swaps and will be able to answer any questions about them.

No problem. The way I understand it, the 4BT's can be had with either a VE-style rotary pump and a few can be found with the in line P-pump. I'm guessing the same mods that work for the 5.9 (injectors, timing, etc) would work for the 4 cyl, though I hear the 4-BT can get high EGT's a bit easier per mod.

I was going to (still want to) do a 4-BT project someday. Was told that the original turbo off my '03 is highly sought after by the modded 4-BT crowd. Maybe some day I'll get a chance to see for my self.

I'm now back in the process of research for the "perfect" diesel for my Bronco build and a 4BT was mentioned and I had heard about some pretty stout 4bts being built and still getting really good mileage. So now I am just back at the drawing board for which diesel engine would fit best.

I know Im back and forth on what to do. I have just been really bored the last few days and I have just been thinking about what everyone has mentioned.

I have tossed around a 4bt a 12V or a CR. Now I know that if I was going to build a big hp rig it would be a CR and would never be turned up high unless I was going to a dyno event. the 4bt wouldnt be much of the higher hp rig but more of a big mpg rig with some good power.

I guess I am just trying to get some good info on what to do for each idea. And then which engine would be the best for my bronco project of the future.

well that wouldnt be too bad either. I dont know really. I just know I want a diesel in it. I guess its now back in the stage of I know I want a diesel and not a dmax. ha

the 7.3 I want to build though is gonna be in a 3/4 or 1 ton with twin compounds and alot of fuel. I want to try and break 4 digits with it because a V8 would be the only way to actually do twin compounds and it just sounds BAMF!
