Default what to build

ok I am looking to build a DD with 1000hp. the 1000hp will be with nitrous. I want it to be streetable but still be a monster.

I originally wanted to build up a 12V but one of the guys on here told me to get a 5.9CR.

So I decided to ask around and see which would be best.

12V, 24V, or 24V CR. it will be a twin turbo used for a daily driver, some pulling and some racing.

Thanks for yalls .02 in advance

do you want to spend alot of money or a **** ton of money? 1000hp 12valve will not be anywere near cheap.... and a 1000hp cr will be alot more then building a 12valve.

No offense, but you are kicking this idea around quite a bit without any real positive choosing of your own. Just saying...

However, being that this site is full of smartasses that loooooooove to share their opinions...I'll bite.

First off, if you plan on pulling with a Bronco, you better weld a jib boom to the front and hang tons of weight waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay out there. I fear that the short wheelbase is going to kill you. But, then again, I could be wrong.

Second off, if you are looking for a 10000000000hp dual-purpose vehicle, it would be in your favor to have a programmable platform...just so you aren't trying to ride a wild stallion when you cruise through town.

Don't count out the Common Rail motor. Sure, it's got all that dreaded electronics (shudder shudder), but there are awesome numbers coming from them, and Destroked is working on stand alone controllers for the 5.9 and 6.7. Slap on a tuner, dual CP3's some good electro-sticks, and a set of big honkin twins and you are going to be pretty close.

Next, giggle gas does not help your argument. Sure, it can make awesome power, but you have to have the fuel to begin with...and with a mechanical engine, that means lots of hard to control black-stacking when you're not on the spray.

Ultimately, do what you want to do! That's the glory of BOMBing! Take the platform that tickles your intrest the most, and love and abuse it to death (hopefully not, but it does happen sometimes ).

So, save up some coin, gut your rig, find your platform of choice and have fun!

OH! And take lots of pictures!

Now, I'm going to sit back and wait to get reamed by the pros.

I totally agree with you. I was the one that mentioned the CR engine. I'm a 12V guy and they make killer power but I'm also a realist. I know there are guys with big power numbers DD their 12V's but there are MORE big number CR trucks rolling around with bige numbers simply because you can dial it back for DD duty. If you find a wrecked truck to get all all the electronics out of it's not to bad of a swap. Painless makes a wiring harness and like Fummins said Destroked is gonna be a great friend to you. I want to make 600hp with my 12V and DD drive it.....I have about 350 now and some of the mods I have done have made it a little less desirable for a DD.....I sometimes think I might be making a mistake to do the changes. If you have another true DD'er then it might not be so bad as this will be a toy and you CAN use it as a DD but you most likely won't then go for it....this is free if you don't think.....it gets expensive REAL fast....I know from experience.

Well like I said I am still in the thought process. I originally wanted a 12V because there isn't any hardcore electronics, but now that I think about it more I think a CR or 24V would pull double duty better. What about a 24V? I haven't heard anyone say just a 24, and that surprises me.

oh and the pulling thing wont be anything big just the local county fair for ***** and giggles. I don't expect it to do any good because I know the wheelbase is way too short for any kind of weight transfer.

1000hp is just a number I threw out there at first. I know it probably wont be 1000hp but its just a number to shoot for. I think more like 7-800 will be what I really shoot for with no nitrous now. but probably some water or propane for a lil cooling effect not for any type of power adder.

oh and you guys are alot more help than the others. I put this up in the 5.9CR and the 24V areas and haven't got anything out of them.

700-800hp is doable but its pushing the vp to the limits even on an aftermarket pump, of course its been done and there are alot out there but how many vp's have they been through? Quite a bit probably. Most high hp 24v's are p-pumped. The CR would probably be your best bet with 700-800hp and still being very streetable as you can tune them down with the click of a few buttons, not much tuning down when you have a 800hp 12v, its either hold the hell on or putt around rollin coal. Ultimately its your decision and what makes someone else happy isnt gonna tute your horn. Hope this helps out a little, and be sure to take lots of pics and post a thread on the build when ya get started. And no matter what moter you go with its gonna get expensive very very fast.

yea I know its gonna get expensive and I dont plan on skimpin on anything. Its gonna be a completely custom build. Im thinkin a shortened frame from another truck with a sick suspension. I plan on makin some decent money. I am going to school for chemical engineering, that is like a 50-75k starting pay. ha hopefully
