A 94 cummins what should I do with it?
I just bought a 1994 dodge 2500 with a cummins. I put a pusher elbow, custom intake and a larger exhaust on it. I want it to rev higher and they have spring kits for the pump to do it I was wondering how high can I rev a stock motor and still be safe? I'm going to put in a valve body kit and torque converter. Can anyone else think of what I should do for cheap to make some good performance gains?
thank you

a different fuel plate is next to nothing.........but you will need those mods on the auto tranny to hold the power.............a 3 or 4k spring kit will also require the 60# valve springs to do it right
Gauges, diff fuel plate or take it out, 4k Gov springs, 60# valve springs, 191 delivery valves, change the timing, injectors and turbo, lots of tuning, you should be doin pretty good, and then you will be ready for a fully built tranny then bigger injectors and a bigger turbo or two

the valve sprins neveer hurt to have. they'll just hold the valve against the seat tighter holding in compression and the explosion on the powerstroke resuting in more power.
but youre right you don tneed them. if i were you i would start off with guages first, fuel plate(depnding on your trans there are different cuts for better performance) then move your afc forward(this is where the tuning comes in)and do the govenor springs. and if your trans is auto and stock you'll need to upgrade that before you go any further.
