Should be Ok in the stock location. Don't forget to bump the AFC housing ahead a touch too. Then... HOLD ON!!!

Once you start putting in plates and such, you are going to need to get familiar with all the adjustments to get the full value and tune. AFC housing position will affect how you reach the new plate you installed and may restrict it with its internal settings. Loosening the starwheel and also adjusting the zero boost stop screw are all going to be needed to control off the line fuel, top end fuel as well as how hard it comes on.

the afc is wat u take off to c the plate, the bolt holes r slotted a little bit so u slide it forward and it gives u a little bit. for more fuel on top u can get a gsk and a rack plug

Wow.. Thats a long topic..

Firstly you are going to study the parts you took off and then see how they fit together. If you noticed the AFC foot that is next to the plate, it has a slight taper as you work your way up. 2 things about it.
1.With the housing in the stock position, the AFC foot can only move so far forward under boost full boost. Depending on the model of pump you have, the worst case is the 215 pump, it can take up to 40psi to get the foot to be at full forward travel. Adjusting the star wheel spring pressure is reduced and less boost moves the foot. Also spring kits for the AFC ( I have one) help to make the adjustments softer and allow for more movement of the AFC foot. Also you can find posts on AFC grinding mods for full travel forward.
2.Moving the AFC housing forward moves up the "zero" point of the initial governor travel right off the line. So when you first hit the pedal, how much fuel is administered. This can be stock, no smoke or full forward, clouds of thick black soot. Moving the AFC housing forward requires loosening out of this stop to get the off line fuel under control. Too much and you just flood the engine, too little and its a slug.

When you move the AFC forward you are allowing it to get out of the way of the fuel plate you just purchased and allow the governor to follow the profile on the plate. If you don't allow for that, you are just running on the AFC foot until you get enough boost to get on the plate.

So if you do move your plate forward to the end and don't modify or adjust your AFC housing position, you are not getting the full effect.

Some photos may help..

Here is a cutaway of the system installed. The zero stop is at the far right. Starwheel in the center with the spring against the diaphragm.

Now the relationship between the plate and AFC foot..

You can see here that if the AFC doesn't move farther forward, You don't touch the plate. And if you have a 0 plate, your fuel plate is at the top notch.. Long ways to travel forward without sliding it.

Hope that helps... Best to take some tools and put them on the passenger floor and take day to tune it in. Everyone wants different response.
