With work. How much time and money do you want to tie up into this?

You would be better off looking for a turbo off a 04.5-07 cummins as they are bigger.

new down pipe and charge air pipes. Other than that it is fairly easy. Do you have the cast elbow for the turbo? If so you could use the stock 04 down pipe and cut part of it off and use flex tubing to connect it to your exhaust. Or you could buy a hx40 style downpipe without a flange and order a weld on flange that fits the outlet of your turbo.

For the charge air pipe your going to have to get creative. If you like welding you could buy some bent sections of pipe and make your own. Or use boots to clamp the peices together. However you increase your chances of boost leaks/things blowing off.

star wheel towards fender increases amount of boost to get fuel. Less smoke. Towards block increase fueling for a given boost pressure. More smoke.

it also effects spoolup on the turbo. The tighter the spring is the slower the truck will be to spool the turbo. Basically it is up to you where you want to put it. If I were you I would start loosening it and drive it. Loosen it some and drive it. Find that happy medium where the truck spools up fairly quick without a bunch of excess smoke. It will take some time and playing around but you will get it eventually.
