Your truck wasn't built to 500hp specs. There's not a single factory part on that truck that was designed to hold that power so when you add it all those parts get worked harder then they were designed to. Trannies, drive train, motor, suspension, it will all need to be built up as times goes.
All that extra torque and power takes a toll and every time you strengthen the next problem up you find the next weakest link in the chain. If you get an honest answer out of anybody here, once you start the mods it's never ending and most of us have sacrificed having our trucks down for extended periods along with reliability issues along with this extra hp. I spent two months with my truck dead because of fueling issues that both Cummins and Dodge tried to figure out and gave up, just wanted to restore my fueling system back to stock. Strange things just have a way of happening to modded trucks. |
thanks buddy:ok1:

the internal parts can handle 500 hp, most your marine engines are pushing 410 hp.
the only differents in the marine and regular 6BT storm block/ this is a thicker block to handle heat, there are just as many regular non storm marines as there is storm block in the field. marine cooling nozzles, they are bigger in size and i would recomend that you get some if you want to reach that much horse power. marine pistons, they have a different bowl, plus the ratio is change a little, i think 15:2, your truck is 17:1 (I'm thinking that is correct) you would want a 3911400 pistons alot better than the ones coated(if you over heat the engine all that coating goes right into the oil and all threw your block, i had this happen to me) there are 2 types of p7100 pumps, talking of factory set, one has a different shaft. you can send your pump off to get it honed and have new plungers put in. 9more fuel more power. camshaft: there are 2 types of cams, one is called a Euro cam( high horse power, i dont have the specs in front of me so i cant quote any specs, then the other cam, this is the one that is used in your truck know and most industrial engines.(then you have aftermarket cams, they change the lifts, DPI comes to mind for the best aftermarket camshaft injectors: well there is all kinds of company's who can help with that. turbos, I'm still learning my self all about the turbos, i have already blown a head with studs for trying hc5a turbo, it is fun with trial and error:U: and how could i forget NITROUS!!!! |
Also trans, Tcase and rear axle/ springs take a beating and your brakes were never ment to stop a truck going that fast.

Also trans, Tcase and rear axle/ springs take a beating and your brakes were never ment to stop a truck going that fast. ,proably take the ac compressor off and run it with out the intake and fuel plate just to see what kind of numbers i make It will net you some skinned knuckles removing the belt and fishing the Non-A/C belt on and not gain anything worth bragging about.None of what you want there will drive you over that 500 hump.I said it before and will echo it again,At Schieds on the dyno at 500hp you will be just another truck as the Common Rails will dominate like they always do and the one lone exception will be John_P's Schied built Red Ram.At 80hp that truck is a freak of nature as it should be for the money and time he has spent on it. My truck is across the 500hp plateau and I won't even dyno at Schieds as I know to make any kind of noise you should be over the 600hp mark with a 12v.So I leave mine sit under the canopy with the rest of the show trucks and enjoy the rest of the show as there is alot to do beyond sitting at the dyno all day waiting to roll........Andy |
My dana 70 hates me.... lol

Not sayin this is you but always keep in mind that these trucks are for your enjoyment not everybody else around you and you will enjoy it a whole lot more. After 10 years of bombin my truck I wish now that I had left it alone and just took care of it, I would have a way better truck today if I had. It's quick and easy to get in way over your head on these things and they are not cheap when your talkin about these HP ranges. I'm probably in the mid 400's right now and use my truck as a farm trailer puller and even at this the fixxin never ends. |
look buddy i bought this truck off my dad he put 200,000 mi. on it i bought it to play around with it is not my daily driver iv been bombing it since i was in high school.im not trying to get in a pissin contest with any body ,but yall are missin the point of my queistion, what is a cheap way to get to 500
