fuel plate
I was at De Leon Im not 100% sure that was a run away on fuel. I do know it was a 13MM II pump. The RPMs didnt go through the roof like you would assum a stuck rack would do. I think it was more that the engine was running off oil. Theres always a chance of sticking a rack on a P pump. However the only real chance of a runaway is from trash in the barrels from bad fuel or dirt from a DV change....
As for the 0 at FF and no plate. In almost every pump when a zero is at FF the rack will travel under plate.

Yeah Jamie and I were talking about this tonight. The truck in question only sounded like it was pushing 3500 rpm or so. I t was also poping and shooting a small flame after the pop. Not sure what it was yet but I hope to find out.
Actually I may have been misinformed, but the Alex down at Hamilton Diesel in Leander, Tx told me it's been dyno proven that there is a 50 hp difference between running a #0 plate full forward and running no plate at all. As for the run-away diesel 'myth', I witnessed this first-hand last friday night at the truck and tractor pulls in Deleon, Tx. After the truck nearly burned to the ground they determined the pin in the afc housing had traveled too far forward and gotten stuck. Not trying to say anybody's wrong here, just puttin in my 2 cents...
its not supposed to go "under" the plate... the purpose of it is for the governor linkage to ride on it, not miss and go under. just means it needs an adjustment... so i understand atleast
