Default not enough rpm's

could sombody tell me why i can;t turn but about 2,750 or 2,800 rpm's.i said mine wouldn't run but about 90 maxed out,but i didn't relize it wasn't turning up all the way just never looked at both gauges at the same time i guess.any help would be much appreciated.

my guess is you setting on the govenor stock springs start defuelin around there ypu can tighten you stock springs allitle and maybe get 3k 3200 without messin with your idle or spend $110 and get a 4k spring

You need a GSK get a 4k and be done with it.

well for now till i can do that how do i tighten the stock one?

search the threads, I have looked all around this site their is alot of good info, just search governer sprinks or 4k gsk

Tightenin the stock one is a bad idea. Can cause runaway and having higher idel which can be high enough to not disengauge the tranny at a stop. Bad news save the money and do it right.

hey bad a%$ 97 there right it ain't the best idea it works for another couple hundred rpms but its really not worth it as fair as risk and labor just save it and do it once and right that is just an old tight a$$ trick sorry that I sorta recommened

You can always go cheap and do the washer trick. Probably not much info on here about it and I wouldn’t recommend it but if your really interested hit up member Jamie Wood.

Also, keep in mind if you go with the 4k kit, you will want to add 60# valve springs as well.
