cam question
how many people are running 60lb valve springs with a stock camshaft?
My 98 is, why?
I know of 4 right off the top of my head in my town running stock cam and 60lb springs.
Yeah... I don't understand what the problem would be?
Maybe added wear to the lobes from the higher pressure? :humm:
anyone thats running a 4kgsk or higher!
Nothing at all wrong with running them on a stock cam, but pointless to use them unless your going to start spinning the engine much over 3000rpm |
you need the springs for exhaust breaks, the reason im asking is becasue when we pulled the cam the intake lobes were excesivly worn enouph that they were pitted. im buying a new cam but i was wondering if a stock cam can handle the stress of 60lb springs
Plenty of trucks do. Any truck with an exhaust brake uses them, and any trucks spinning over 3200 rpm are supposed to as well. Thats a lot of trucks. You'll be fine.
ok i was just wondering because all the aftermarket cams say they are rated for 60lb springs so i didnt know if thats why mine is worn so bad or if it is just the 300,000 miles taking its toll

y not go w/ a better cam? hows the engine comin along anyway?
