Default Opinions On A Muffler

I am thinkin of adding a muffler to my truck, i know what a weenie.

i work at napa, we sell walker exhaust, i am thinking of trying a MegaFlow HD muffler 4" in and out, 51" long flow thru.

didnt know if anyone has ever used one or heard one on how quiet they are. i dont want it dead silent but a nice growl to it.

i was gonna try a hushpower, but there to darn expensive for my budget right now, and i have a charge account at napa,

Never used one. Do you know the flow rate? You could use a Donaldson. They're cheap and available all over at truck shops.

i hear nothing but good things about the hushpower muffler.

do you need one asap?

not really just wanna do something different and go for a little more of a stealthy approach. im searchin for some flow #s

If you go Donaldson you'll want the M090544. It flows like 2000 + CFM which should be fine for you.

looking at size specs, it is the same, i wonder if walker came out with the megaflow to keep up with donaldson. 51 long a 9 in dia. the megaflow is designed for class 7 and 8 trucks.

i know the hushpowers are the cats meow, so to speak, and they are a relatively small muffler, compared to the ones im lookin at. just i cant see $200 for something to make my truck quieter.

i dont think you want to go with one that is 51" that will quiet the thing down way to much, what about putting a resonator back on it

It depends on what you're after. Those 51 inch mufflers give the Cummins a really nice sound. It's a little mellow but it sounds great. Like a big truck. It'll lose that rapping kind of sound and gain an awesome rumble.

yea i am looking for something that is not so obnoxious as a straight pipe, but not stock quiet.

hopefully i get it monday, our warehouse has screwed us, not just my muffler, other peoples parts. and it is a napa warehouse. i have off tuesday so i wanna install it then.

i have a 4 inch custom made flange right before the elbow into the bed so it is easier to drop the pipe for dynos. so ill just drop it and hook our "dyno" pipe up to it and hook the muffler to that and fire it and see what it sounds like.

it still isnt here so i can always return it when it comes if someone comes up with another idea for a muffler.
