Default Unsyncronizing A NV4500

i will be buying a 12v with the nv4500 soon and hopefully going to build it to 400ish horse then later on to 500+(when i win the lottery). as most of you know(and im going to find out)clutches are expensive, same with throw-out bearings, flywheels... etc. i was wondering if i could unsyncronize this trans(and if any of you have)and how much work/$ is involved if i do it myself with a few buddies. i know i would have to(and i know how to) straight shift it and match the rpms or double clutch, but if the class 8's do it to save money on wear parts, why couldnt I?

Thanks
-Mike

if you are familiar with "floating" gears then you shouldnt have to unsynch it, if you can find the right rpm then you can float them no problem, i dont know about anybody else but my synch on third gear is going out anyhow, ive been told if you dont use the right fluid when you refill it then it will eat your synchros and bearings the stuff is like $20 qt.

Yup... $22 a quart. If you really want no sycro's in your trans, just get some used ones that are worn, and don't actually work anymore. You'll need the sycro's in there, or at least spacers. Also keep in mind on some transmissions the synchro's act as oil slingers, lubricating bearings and whatnot, I don't know if New Venture does that with these tranny's, but you'll want to check that first.

i can float gears but no ones perfect and even if you dont hear it sometimes it wont line up just right. ill have to take a look at my syncros and see if there slingers or if i could just use spacers instead

floating gears on the stock tranny in a good recipe for wearing out the synchros faster

Only if you don't know what your doing, slamming through the gears is the worst possible thing you can do for them, double clutching would pretty much rule them out, but floating gears doesn't harm anything if you do it right...
