Default GT4088R.. any good?

Looking at a lightly used GT4088R turbo, 77mm 1.08 A/R exhaust, is the thing ever going to spool in a single turbo setup? Dual ball bearing would help with that to an extent, it is a twin scroll non wastegated housing, the compressor map looks about right for what I want.

I'm thinking if I got a .88 A/R housing for it I'd be OK.

Would it work as a secondary twin with a 60mm HX35 primary?

Dunno .. Im gonna be running a HT60/HX35w ...

I have seen many run like the wind ... If the price is right ... it would be a decent try to set it for twins ... Worst case .. its spools slow ... thats tunable with a Spool flange..

He's asking $1200 for it, apparently a new exhaust housing is $200ish.

Spool flange? Is that a diverter valve that puts all 6 cylinder's exhaust into 1 runner of the turbo, essentially halfing the AR until there's a certain amount of boost?

I don't think any housings for this turbo have an integrated wastegate.. is that going to be a PITA? is it going to be really necessary?

That's right.

That turbo would work if you go with the smaller housing, but you should have a gate on it if you plan on pushing it. You will also need fittings to run coolant through the charger and an oil restrictor

I guess if I can't find a gated housing, I could limit my top end fuel? plumbing the coolant lines, though not my favourite job, isn't a problem, however, you have any idea about what size an oil restrictor I'd need?

Yes the spool flange is a diverter style housing between manifold and the turbo flange .. I have seen a few people use them with great results .. but ... they can fail and cause damage which the maker of the spool flange dosent cover due to part failures .. Guess its a chance ya take ..
