You should also take drive pressures, timing and age of gasket into account.

i do know what my drive pressure is and a flat head goes a long way in making it last

If you get an he351 off of a 5.9 cr it isn't a Vgt turbo. It was when the 6.7 was put in that it got a Vgt

For what it's worth, I'll throw my experience in. I have a 57/71mm setup on my 95, it's made 564rwhp with that setup. It also tows very well. After about 2 years, I did blow a head gasket, even with studs. I didn't do a retorque, but I will check to see where the studs are at torque-wise before I take it apart. Fire-ringing it with 625 studs this time. If I were to do it again, I would definitely get the head resurfaced before I installed studs, at the minimum.
