Default Who Here Has Actually Broken A 48re Input?

not a friend of a friend of a guy you knew who died.

have you actually held a broken one in your hand, seen it on the floor, been in the truck that broke it?

how was the rig set up?

I'm about to throw my new t/c and valve body in and I'm hearing on one side- there's nothing to worry about.... and from the other side they're saying the enhanced lock up and tighter shifts are absolutely going to break the shaft

I only have a juice w/ attitude chip intake and exhaust w/ 37's. I tow in stock mode. I beat on rice cars in go fast mode.

my stock t/c doesn't slip often either.

Sooooooo I have run across 1 broken shaft in my time. It was a good friend- stock converter in a truck w/ 20k miles. tst chip, intake, straight pipe. towing 8k lbs in 3 and 3 setting I think.

I didn't actually see the shaft though. It was warranty work... they told him he broke the shaft.... towing, merging, full throttle in the bay area... just went to free spin and rolled to a stop.. fluid everywhere. I just figured he tore the front off the t/c... I never believe anything the dealer says because they're generally full of **** and make you feel like the only reason anything broke is because you lifted the truck. (right down to a mirror falling off )

Yep, seen 2 busted ones.

1 In a bone stock truck with an e-brake. Lifted when towing a trailer and the TC locked, SNAP!!

Other one with a Edge Juice was spinning tires out of some water, lifted as it got traction, he was done.

Yeah I was riding with a guy down the road when his shifted to third while locked and that was all she wrote for it. Made a hell of a noise and his took the pump out also.

what do you mean by lifted? as in took his foot out of the throttle and the t/c locked?

hell I guess it's going to be out so I might as well just sack up.

Broke mine... SHeared it right at the point of where the shaft connects to the larger drum.... If that makes any sense.. Anyways I broke mine.. Had twin turbos, smarty, mp-8 and exhaust...

right on.... yea that's much more than I'll ever run. I still haven't made time to swap parts yet and I've been toying w/ the idea of trading mine in w/ the trans the way it is (still fine)... reselling the t/c v/b and getting a 5.9 6 speed megacab if I can find one. haven't lucked out yet. Hell $4 fuel = cheap new truck @ 0% financing plus money in the bank!
