Just because its delivered fresh and/or highway fuel doesn't mean its not bad fuel...multiple injector failure is a sign of bad fuel. And its a trickle down effect...bad fuel system is causing the emissions to fail because the excess (read: abnormal) soot being produced.

As I stated before, this is a common rail, not an old school diesel (like the rest of your farm equipment is likely powered by). They are way more susceptible to fuel contamination than the old mechanical diesel (like a 12-valve Cummins)...while you can run crap fuel through an old 12-valve all the time without a problem, all it takes is ONE TIME of bad fuel to ruin a common rail fuel system.

I don't have a dog in this fight, I don't even own a diesel now...just telling you what it screams to me. I went through this same thing with my 04.5...I stepped out of an older 24-valve. What I took for granted with the 24-valve got me into major $$ with the common rail.

ULSD is hygroscopic, put it in a vented tank and it will absorb water from the atmosphere...I saw this in my own truck and auxiliary tank. I used a water blocking filter...I had to change it fairly regularly because they would swell and block fuel flow.

Default cummins diesel problem

if i was you i would fix up the truck and sell it. i would invest half the money towards a old faithful 12 valve cummins in nice shape. believe it or not i have more trust in a truck with 400,000 miles with a 12 valve than i do with a new cummins off the lot. i hope that helps
