Stupid question, have you replaced the fuel filter...or verified your lift pump is working. If it runs normal except for load or WOT, then it is likely running out of fuel like you suspected.

Blow by can seen by removing the oil filler cap while the truck is running...

The rail pressure should be around 25kpsi WOT and around 6kpsi.

I have replaced FF. My lift pump is working.

My rail pressure seems a little low according to Steved.
I have an idea but what does WOT mean?
I'll check tomorrow for blow by.

There are no codes at this point.

My brother's 06 had the same problem. Turned out to be the FCA (fuel control actuator) on the back of the CP3 injection pump. The FCA is an electronically controlled solenoid valve. The ECM controls the amount of fuel that enters the high-pressure pumping chambers by opening and closing the FCA based on a demanded fuel pressure. It WILL NOT throw a code if it's bad.

Click here: 3rd Generation Dodge Cummins - Fuel Control Actuator (FCA) to see what and where it is and how to change it and here:CUMMINS FUEL CONTROL ACTUATOR ('03-'07 5.9L)-Dodge Cummins Diesel Truck Accessories – Geno’s Garage for a great place to buy it!

Good luck!

"WOT" Wide Open Throttle... did my fuel filter corrected the problem. On a side note i also did a oil change with valveoline full synthetic 5w40. wow never in my life found a motor with the much difference. runs quitter and is alot smoother through the RPM's.

That's what I thought. My rail pressure is definitely low then, 21k at WOT and about 15-17k normal driving. I bought an FCA, gonna try that on Sunday. Out of town hunting right now. S10, glad you got your problem worked out, hope the FCA fixes Mine!

Guys, I can't believe I didn't mention this before, sorry.

When sit idle for a while I get somewhat of a diesel smell coming through the vents. Also My exhaust smells like it's running really lean? If that makes any sense.

Don't know if it's part of the problem but thought I would mention it.

Thanks again and sorry for the trouble

Ok, so I was coming back from my hunting trip on Sunday. Pulling a 24' camper. Didn't have time to change FCA, so I thought I would experiment with truck a bit. Turned the Quadzilla Ex II up to 3 most of the trip and was getting 25k WOT and about 18-20k normal driving. The truck ran really good, I did have a bit more injector rattle at WOT? Could it still be FCA? When I would put it back down to stock it would struggle again. Thoughts?

Injector rattle in a Common Rail Cummins is usually associated with spiking/excessive fuel pressure. I do believe the MAX rail pressure for your truck is 23,200psi. Just a thought, have you tried running the truck WITHOUT the Quadzilla?
