Once again, you get what you pay for. One more vote for the 5100's too.

 

So I'm kinda confused. Should i get bilstein hd's or 5100's? And what's the difference between the two other than the color.

 

I'm running the 5100's since Saturday, no complaints. Handling seems a bit more compliant/firm, but I've only driven it a couple times since completing the upgrade. Then again, anything probably would have been an improvement over the worn-out POS OEM shocks.

 

Well, If your truck is lifted at all, you need to get the 5100, but if your truck is stock suspensions with NO lift, you get to choose between either of them...

The HDs (blue/yellow) are valved specifically for our trucks and many people say they offer a slightly nicer ride then the 5100. Furthermore, they coem with a lifetime warranty, which is nothing to sneeze at.

That being said, I went with the 5100 on my stock truck for 2 reasons--
1) I eventually plan to upgrade my suspension ,probably including a 2" lift, which means the 5100 will still work
2) My entire truck is white and silver and black, and I just couldn't bring myself to put a yellow and blue schock on it....

 

I hate to ask this, but if money was no object,for a 06 Lbz cc dully long bed what shocks are the best. I would like to do the cognito upper control arms,keys and maybe 1.5 blocks In the rear,. along with air bags to help out. With this gmc I will be towing a 32 foot cat speed boat, 36 foot raptor toy hauler and a 28 foot motorcycle trailer. I don't want this gmc to ride harsh my ford f350 7.3 (with everything that banks makes) does that for me just fine. If the gmc comes out the way I hope I will be giving the f350 to my girlfriend she loves that big red truck the ford has pro comp mx6's on it and I am not happy with them at all the settings are to hard or to soft the shocks need a setting of like 4.5-4 3/4 to have a nice ride. With the gmc I want my cake and eat it to and I want the cake to taste good!!! Thanks for the help

 

Ok so after moving from Washington state to Virginia im ready to get some Bilstein hd shocks. Can I get them any cheaper than $275 shipped? Thanks dudes.

 

Ok, I was looking at the Yellow and Blue for my stock truck and found F4BE52549HO, for $66 each (front) using Price Grabber website which found the price at the Tire Rack. The AutoZone price for the same shock was $75.99. Appears to be the cheapest I could find for my Dodge 2500 1997 4x4.

Just a note, I used the autozone website to search the shocks available for my rig. I then used their listed reference numbers (cut and paste) to search other websites/Google. Autozone had several choices in Bilstein for my truck, but I have no lift or money so the yellow and blue are pricey enough for me. Good luck.
