Ok, I'm dumber than dumb I guess. I've never heard of HOAT coolant until I had to change my waterpump. Seems a bit early for that type of failure, but what do I know??

Checked my owners manual and tech manual and it mentions the HOAT coolant in a 50/50 mix with distilled water as the preferred coolant for my truck. I can see the distilled water, BUT is Dodge coolant recommendation the only coolant that is acceptable for the '03 Cummins or is it just that it is the best for the engine.

Aren't there other coolants for diesel engines that would work just as well and have the same protection properties??

I thought Prestone was a propylene glycol. Or do they also make an ethylene glycol. What color is the correct antifreeze?? Green?? Pink??

 

in my 08 was pink but now is green i wouldnt think it could be that much different but i have always thought antifreez is antifreeze does one cool better then the other ??
