Default Coolant level

Hey guys and gals, hope this is in the right area to post.
2003 f350 6.0. ARP head studs egr delete new oil cooler head gaskets done a few years ago.
Icp sensor, FICM, HPOP and water pump done three weeks ago. Had coolant flushed. Truck is running great. The mechanic overfilled the degass bottle and said to run it high to work out any air in the system. Coolant is puking out. I changed the cap just to be on the safe side. Still puking a little. Now for the last four days or so the coolant is staying at the same level. It is about an inch below the new max level. I check the degass bottle when I get to where I'm going. Sometimes the coolant is completely gone but it returns if I open the degass cap. Is this normal?
