Any Of Ya'll Tried Biodiesel?
#21
I considered trying the bio but after looking at the cost and not seeing any difference I opted out, not to mention I considered the gasser running that E-85 stuff and hearing that mileage dropped off, figured if the Corn based E-85 did that then the flower based bio would mostly likely do the same. But I have to ask this WHY BIO???

ok...From the Bio website: Expect a 20% drop in HP and MPG running 100% BD.
At B20 (20%) I can't tell any diff. except less "clatter" at idle. Yes Bio has MUCH better lubricity than ULSD. Hence running 3 gal per 30 gal fill up is a huge improvement in lubrication over straight Dino. 06, 5.9 auto. Ram 2500

A maximum blend of 5% biodiesel (B5) is acceptable as long as the biodiesel mixture
meets ASTM specification D-975, D-975 - grade S-15, and ASTM D6751. A biodiesel fuel blend that is higher than 5% is not acceptable without additional fuel processing because these higher percentage biodiesel blends contain excess amounts of moisture which exceed the water stripping capability of the on-engine final fuel filter. Should a higher percentage biodiesel fuels be used an auxiliary water stripping filter will be required.
A maximum blend of 20% biodiesel (B20) can be used by government, military, and
commercial fleets who equip their vehicle(s) with an optional water separator, and adhere
to the guidelines in the Department of Defense specification A-A-59693 (in addition to:
ASTM specification D-975, D-975 - grade S-15 and ASTM D6751)

Hey, I have been running B20 since my truck was new (about a year and a half) Zero problems! I just changed my fuel filter twice, and have not had ANY noticable power loss or mpg loss. Bio sites say 20% loss with B99. but at 20% (given my Smarty Jr truck producing 395HP I can't tell the difference @ B20.
