my uncles cummins is bone stock besides 4'' turbo back the tranny here recently started being hesitant about shifting and if when he is driving and mashes down on it insted of grabbing another gear he says its like it hangs between gears and truck just revs out and has to let off and it will shift any help or recomendations would be great or what would fix it i think the truck has around 70 to 80 k thanks ahead of time

 

Start with the usual, check the fluid.

Has it been serviced lately?

The typical problem like this is the governor pressure sensor and solenoid.

 

if its not this then it might be a sloppy converter or bad bands... I agree check the fluid, and if you drop the pan check for metal, thats a sure sign of bad things

 

ya he just had it serviced and the bands adjusted we was wondering about the pressure sensor thanks for the input
