fuel system problem
replaced external fuel pump on 2003 3500 4x4 dually truck will crank and idle but runs out of fuel when you rev truck up. you can prime fuel system and will crank again but does same thing when you rev truck up. can anyone help me with this?
I assume yer talkin bout the lift pump
sorry to see you go thru all this, the OEM lift pumps are crappy and need to be upgraded with after market like Airdog or Fass, there is also a belt drive unit out there called MITUSA that is great

Is this something that should be replaced before the OEM fails or is it safe to wait until it goes out.
When you get your engine started, adjust the timing , and then shut the engine off . After you will find that, now, it won't start... It is because the cam is far enough out of time that there is no compression when the spark fires. It's not going to start. When compression does occur, the spark just isn't there at the right time.
