pickup running rough.
I replaced my injectors in my 03 and when I got them installed the pickup started idling rough. It didnt do that before I replaced them. it's putting out a haze of white smoke at idle and puffs it when revved up. I thought maybe it was air in the system but i ran it for about 10 minutes and it never cleared up. I checked my lift pump and there wasn't any fuel out of it so I replaced my lift pump with an airdog 150(mainly because I wanted to go bigger). I'm not getting power to it though. I'm throwing a P0483 fan speed code I ran continuity tests through the injector harness and everything checked out ok. The injectors are reman injectors from taylor diesel out of amarillo. I load tested my batteries and they checked out good 2. My battery cables are in good shape. if you try to drive it it goes about 1/2 a mile and dies. I think there's an electrical problem but I can't find it anywhere. My scantool shows no codes either so i think the fan speed code is a ghost code. I really need some help or ideas on this one. Also no diesel in the engine oil.
Well white smoke is raw fuel plain and simple, this is usually a sign of bad injectors. I'd venture to say that A: you got a bad batch of injectors, B: They may have damaged something installing the injectors and/or installed them incorrectly C: Like you stated there is something wrong electrically. or finally D: My best guess would be that the Airdog isn't working (that could go back to your electrical problem) and your choking it off.
ok got my pickup evened out the guy that gave me the valve lashes was wrong. he said 7 and 13 and its 10 and 20 so ya. I have a new problem now. The pickup acts like it starving for fuel if you get on it at all it acts like it's running out of diesel. the airdogs assembled right i put the drawstraw at the rear of the fuel tank is that wrong?
it shouldn't have it was running right before and i never touched the ip. it feels like it's pulling air though a little bit. I put a full tank in and got all over it and it didnt do it until i got to 3 grand started sputtering a little bit. but when i have it anything less than half a tank i have to barely touch the throttle or it starts sputtering and almost dies.
maybe idk see how there's no hole in the draw straw anywhere. after my fuel level goes down a bit i'll drop the tank and redo it. probably put it more in the middle of the tank.
