Default 2004.5 dodge cummins?

Ok i might be getting a 2004.5 dodge cummins is their anything i need to look out for on these trucks. the guy said the lift pump went out a couple days ago and h e put a new one in. Would letting the lift pump on these truck go out hurt the injection pump or not. its a 6 speed, 4 wheel drive. Thank You.

Did he put the pump in the tank?

The failed lift pump most likely didn't hurt anything.

i'm on my third lift pump in my 2004.5, the dealership upgraded to the in tank pump on the second one, and i put in the third. injection pump should be fine as long as he didn't run it for a long time without the lift pump.

jack up the front end and check the bearings in the front hubs(grab the tire on the top and bottom and check for play). i'm on the third set of those too. i do have 240,000 miles on mine though. check the pulley on the tensioner also, it is plastic and they wear out around 120,000 miles.

I just drove 2000 miles on a failed FASS...truck sits with over 235k. The truck runs fine and the failed pump did not seem to cause any performance issues. So how long is too long is a good question...

Your lift and bigger tires will accel the wear on suspension and bearing components...
