Default Backup lights

The back up lights on my 04.5 (6 speed) have been delayed in turning on when I shift into reverse lately. This morning they would not come on at all unless I pushed the shifter to the top of the gate and held it there. Any ideas why this is happening? Bad switch? If it is where is the switch?

It sounds like your reverse switch is stuck so that it wont fully open. They are usually mounted on the side of the transmission. The easiest way to check, is to find it, unplug it, adn take a paperclip and just the 2 terminals. Turn your key on, and you should have the reverse lights on. If so replace the switch.

its on the top of the transmission, infront of the shifter pointing out to the drivers side of the truck
